James River GLCF Lynchburg Tomorrow

 

The Greater Lynchburg Community Foundation (GLCF) is proud to announce its involvement in the newly launched Lynchburg Tomorrow.

Lynchburg Tomorrow was launched in 2021, in a partnership between the University of Lynchburg (UoL) and local city officials. This new program connects areas of need and potential in the city with The UoL’s unique resources, such as the leadership and expertise of their faculty, staff and students.

The Greater Lynchburg Community Foundation has partnered with the University of Lynchburg as part of their Lynchburg Tomorrow initiative to draw upon the expertise and research capabilities there to better track outcomes as they relate to our grantmaking.

 

We are proud to announce that the second Century Fund Grant for $100,000 has been awarded to Camp Kum-Ba-Yah! 

Camp Kum-Ba-Yah, located in the heart of Lynchburg, was founded by Reverend Bev Cosby in 1950 as a space for the children of the Lynchburg community to play together in a safe environment.

With a focus on connection and community through outdoor experiences, Camp Kum-Ba-Yah has greatly improved our Lynchburg community. The Greater Lynchburg Community Foundation looks forward to seeing how Camp Kum-Ba-Yah will continue to bring the community of Lynchburg closer together.

It's Our Mission

The principal mission of The Community Foundation is to enhance the quality of life in the communities served by the establishment of permanent endowments for the cities of Lynchburg and Bedford and the counties of Amherst, Appomattox, Bedford and Campbell, with income distributed annually to charitable organizations within the community.
