In 2020, amidst the pandemic, the Lynchburg Daily Bread was able to serve a total of 115,478 meals to the homeless and the hungry in and throughout the Greater Lynchburg area. This is the most meals served in the nearly 40-year tenure as an organization.

Growth

Beginning in just Lynchburg, Virginia, the Lynchburg Daily Bread has been able to continue expanding its reach throughout the years. With the assistance of various community partners (including the Greater Lynchburg Community Foundation), their reach currently spans across our region, including Altavista, Appomattox, Bedford and Pamplin. This is done through their meals outreach program, which serves the outlying area of Lynchburg through the area's excess food. This program also helps to eliminate food waste throughout the city, as they work with local restaurants, stores and farmers to take excess food to people in need.
