As you are well aware, the coronavirus is severely impacting virtually all of our local businesses and non-profit organizations. In light of this pandemic, The Greater Lynchburg Community Foundation (GLCF) wants everyone to know that we are still striving to carry out our mission to enhance the lives of Central Virginians. Together, we are positive that we will get through this challenging time.  Please read on to see how we plan to handle things for the foreseeable future.

The Greater Lynchburg Community Trust has changed its name to the Greater Lynchburg Community Foundation to better reflect its mission.  In addition, the office location has moved from the Wyndhurst area to 1100 Commerce Street in the historic Downtown Lynchburg area.

Food for Kids and HumanKind receive Greater Lynchburg Community Foundation Youth Awards.

The Greater Lynchburg Community Foundation and Wells Fargo Foundation are pleased to announce that Food for Kids was selected as the recipient of the fourteenth annual $10,000 Youth Philanthropy Award, and HumanKind was selected as the recipient of this year’s $5,000 Youth Philanthropy Award.

Lake Christian Ministries Establishes Endowment Fund at The Greater Lynchburg Community Foundation

Lake Christian Ministries (LCM) provides hundreds of low income families with food, financial assistance, and household items in the Smith Mountain Lake area. The Board of Directors of Lake Christian Ministries recently decided to establish an endowment fund at The Greater Lynchburg Community Foundation to ensure that the organization could continue to provide needed services in the Smith Mountain Lake region. The fund was started with an initial investment of $10,000, and each member of the board of directors contributed to the endowment.

It's Our Mission

The principal mission of The Community Foundation is to enhance the quality of life in the communities served by the establishment of permanent endowments for the cities of Lynchburg and Bedford and the counties of Amherst, Appomattox, Bedford and Campbell, with income distributed annually to charitable organizations within the community.
